COMPANY PROFILE
British American Financial is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BAB Holdings Limited, a 100% Bahamian owned entity. On February 5, 2007 British American Insurance Company of The Bahamas Limited was acquired by BAB Holdings Limited and rebranded British American Financial, assuming its legacy.
British American Financial was established in 1920 when the British American Company Limited was incorporated in Nassau, N.P., Bahamas as a wholly owned subsidiary of British American International Corporation. The name British American has stood the test of time. This is not surprising since the word “British” represents solidity, traditionalism and tenacity and “American” denotes market aggressiveness, technology and know-how.
British American Financial has built its reputation on the philosophy of being a client-responsive company. This focus on core values has enabled us to grow to an International Network across the Caribbean, in Africa, Mauritius, Malta, United Kingdom, USA and The Bahamas. Ever since we issued the first policy to Ms. Henrietta Storr in 1920, we have successfully continued to respond to the changing financial needs of our many clients in The Bahamas and around the world. From the tradition of providing “Home Service” life and hospitalization policies with door-to-door collection of premiums, British American has grown into a full Financial Services Company providing products and services to both individuals as well as companies around the world.
British American Financial has more than 50,000 individual policyholders and in excess of 400 corporate accounts, covering some 6,000 employees and 15,000 individuals in total – including dependents. The company has more than 1 billion dollars of life insurance coverage in force. Our customers come from all walks of life ranging from individuals who desire to provide protection for themselves from the hazards of life to corporations that wish to provide benefits, investment and protection vehicles for their Executives and Employees.
